SEPA take action…!

Together with Crimestoppers, SEPA have just announced that they intend to target those rogues who flout the WEEE regs.

Does this concern the contaminated land folk…well probably not.  So why am I writing about this…?  Well I reckon that a load of fly tipped contaminated soils, or site investigations step-up to ‘miss’ expected hot spots in order to avoid expensive clean up costs, will probably do more harm to the environment than a load of old computers and TV’s dumped in lay-bys.  I’m not saying that what SEPA are doing is wrong just that it might make more sense to target the business sectors where greater contamination can arise.

But then, if you get caught the fines are a pittance, see our recent blog, so what’s the point…?

Sam recently wrote about ‘duty of care’ and gave three easy steps to follow to avoid those unscrupulous rogues.  Check it out as it’s well worth a read to avoid paying the price of having your TVs, computers or even soils illegally dumped.
